Announcing the 2025 Anders Scholarship Award Winner: Emily V.!

Blog post titled ‘Announcing the 2025 Anders Scholarship Award Winner: Emily V.!’ celebrating this year’s scholarship recipient.

We are absolutely delighted to announce the winner of the Anders Scholarship Award for 2025! This year, we are thrilled to recognize Emily V., who has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship for her truly unique appreciation and profound perspective on the healthcare field.

Emily is an inspiring first-generation college student currently at Stanford University, where she is majoring in Human Biology on the pre-Physician Assistant (pre-PA) track. As the oldest of three siblings and the proud granddaughter of Guatemalan immigrants, Emily draws immense strength and purpose from her family’s remarkable resilience, unwavering faith, and deep commitment to building a better future. These powerful roots are the very foundation that fuels her dedication to critical causes such as educational equity, culturally responsive healthcare, and immigrant justice. Her essay beautifully illuminated how these passions drive her pursuit of a career in healthcare.

In Emily’s words, I'm so excited and I'm going to Stanford University and I'm going into my second year and education is something that might sound cliche, but I enjoy it, and just having this financial help is truly making a difference.”

The Anders Scholarship Award has been a proud initiative to support the next generation of healthcare leaders and innovators. Over the years, it has recognized students from diverse backgrounds—college, medical school, trade programs, and even GED graduates preparing for the next step—who have shown dedication, promise, and a commitment to making a difference. This year marks the final chapter of the Anders Scholarship, and we are honored to celebrate one last outstanding recipient who embodies the values this award was created to champion.

A significant component of the eligibility process includes writing an original essay, ranging from 500 to 1,000 words. This essay is a critical opportunity for applicants to share their voice and insights. It must discuss the vital role of an Allied Health, Nursing, or Therapy professional in today’s world and delve into how their roles profoundly affect healthcare, public safety, and everyday lives. Crucially, the essay must be an authentic, personal experience of how an Allied Health, Nursing, or Therapy professional has personally touched the applicant’s life. Furthermore, it must include thoughtful, recommended actions that should be taken to positively impact the often-difficult job of these dedicated professionals.

Emily’s essay stood out for its heartfelt narrative and actionable insights, truly embodying the spirit of the Anders Scholarship. We believe her journey and vision will make a significant impact on the future of healthcare.

Please join us in extending our warmest congratulations to Emily V. We are incredibly proud to support her educational journey and look forward to witnessing the positive changes she will undoubtedly bring to the healthcare community.
