Travel PTA Jobs Common Questions
How much experience do travel PTA jobs require?
Most travel PTA jobs require 2 years of recent PTA experience. Some facilities accept 1 year. The job page gives the minimum for the opening you're considering.
Can a PTA use the PT Compact for an out-of-state assignment?
Yes. The PT Compact covers eligible PTAs as well as PTs. You need a qualifying license in your primary state of residence and a privilege in the destination state. Both states must be operational for compact privileges. State jurisprudence requirements and deadlines also apply.
Are my NPTE-PTA scores automatically sent to every state?
No. FSBPT sends scores to the jurisdiction selected when you register. After scores are released, you can request transfers to additional jurisdictions through your FSBPT account. Sending a score is not the same as receiving a license or compact privilege.
Can a PTA provide maintenance therapy in a home health assignment?
Yes. Medicare home health guidance permits a qualified PTA, under a qualified PT's supervision, to deliver skilled maintenance therapy. A qualified therapist must establish the maintenance program. Coverage depends on the need for skilled care and other Medicare conditions, not on an expectation that the patient will improve.
