Missouri MRI Employment and Growth
Missouri's MRI workforce totaled about 1,040 technologists in May 2025, according to BLS estimates. That counts statewide employment, not open travel jobs. Looking ahead, MERIC projects 7.89% employment growth from 2024 to 2034 across the specialty.
FAQs: Travel MRI Technologist Jobs in Missouri
Does ACR accept ARMRIT registration for MRI technologists?
Yes, ACR accepts ARMRIT registration as one route to meeting its initial MRI staff qualifications. You don't also need ARRT registration for that route. An employer can still require other credentials.
Can ARRT probation credits also count toward my next biennium?
Credits earned during ARRT CE probation don't count toward your new biennium. You have six months to resolve probation by completing and reporting the missing CE and paying the required fee. Those catch-up credits don't fulfill the next cycle.
Does Level 2 MR Personnel status transfer between facilities?
It doesn't transfer automatically. Under ACR's 2026 safety manual, each site's MR Medical Director determines the training needed for Level 2 MR Personnel. Your previous designation doesn't replace the new site's determination that your training meets its requirements.
Does ACR recommend two MRI technologists for a single scanner?
Not two technologists. For routine hours, ACR's 2026 safety manual specifies one Level 2 MR technologist per scanner plus one more Level 1 or Level 2 MR person in Zone III. That second person doesn't have to be a technologist.
Will I need to retake the MRI registry exam for ARRT's ten-year CQR?
You can't fail the assessment used in routine CQR. ARRT uses it to identify gaps that may need more continuing education. It isn't a registry exam. Each credential covered by CQR has its own ten-year cycle.
Can a pregnant MRI technologist keep working in the scan room?
ACR guidance permits pregnant staff in the scan room when scanning isn't active. It recommends staying outside that room during active scanning. This precaution doesn't exclude pregnant technologists from MRI department work.
