Travel Respiratory Therapist Jobs Questions
Can I take an RRT travel job if I hold CRT?
Not when the opening specifically requires RRT. CRT and RRT are distinct NBRC credentials, so CRT alone does not satisfy a stated RRT requirement. The credential named on the individual job page determines which qualification that opening requires.
How much experience do respiratory therapist travel jobs require?
Most jobs call for 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience, but some facilities accept 1 year. The job page lists the experience needed for that opening.
Can respiratory therapists use compact privileges for travel jobs yet?
No. As of September 2026, the Respiratory Care Interstate Compact is still being implemented and is not issuing practice privileges. Joining the compact does not yet let a therapist bypass the destination state's existing licensing requirements.
Does RRT certification include ACCS or NPS?
No. Adult Critical Care Specialty and Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty are additional NBRC credentials earned through separate specialty exams. Holding RRT alone does not mean you hold either designation. If an opening names an additional credential, it is a separate qualification to match.
