Travel Nuclear Medicine Technologist Jobs: FAQs
Does CNMT certification automatically give me the PET specialty credential?
CNMT certification doesn't automatically confer NMTCB's PET specialty credential. PET has its own eligibility and examination requirements; performing PET studies isn't the same as holding that certification. Whether a job requires the PET credential is a separate employer decision.
Which licensing rules apply to nuclear medicine work in another state?
Where a state requires a nuclear medicine license, you still need that license. NMTCB says most licensing states accept its certification instead of a state examination. That can satisfy the exam requirement; certification doesn't replace the state's licensing process.
Do attenuation-only CT scans count toward NMTCB(CT) eligibility?
Attenuation-only scans don't meet NMTCB's CT procedure requirement. Qualifying procedures must use diagnostic-quality parameters. They may be performed alongside PET or SPECT attenuation-correction imaging. Completing attenuation scans isn't enough to document the diagnostic CT competencies required for the credential.
Do I need my previous employer's dose report for a nuclear medicine assignment?
An employer-issued report isn't the only record accepted under NRC rules. For workers who require monitoring, a site may accept your signed statement describing the nature and amount of occupational radiation dose received that year. The rule also allows employer records. Earlier assignments remain part of that year's dose history.
