Massachusetts Radiologic Hiring in Numbers

Massachusetts had 5,500 employed radiologic technologists and technicians in BLS's May 2025 estimates. CT is included in this broader occupation. O*NET projects 270 openings a year for 2024-2034, covering growth and replacement needs rather than current travel vacancies.

Massachusetts CT Screening and Stroke Services

Massachusetts screened 26.8% of residents at high risk for lung cancer in the American Lung Association's 2025 report, compared with 18.2% nationally. The state ranked third, yet nearly three quarters of its eligible population remained unscreened. CT travelers enter a state with comparatively broad screening participation and considerable room to reach more eligible patients through low-dose CT programs.

Since January 1st, 2026, Massachusetts hospital rules require every hospital ED and satellite emergency facility to provide at least acute stroke ready services. Written protocols must cover initial testing, treatment and transfer when needed. Emergency CT imaging belongs to a statewide care pathway that reaches smaller emergency sites, not just hospitals offering endovascular treatment.

CT Technologist Travel Jobs in Massachusetts: FAQs

Does ARRT(CT) qualify me for travel CT tech jobs in Massachusetts?

ARRT(CT) doesn't replace state authorization. Massachusetts' licensing rule treats CT as an advanced discipline that must appear on your license. You also need a full state license in radiography, nuclear medicine or radiation therapy; an advanced CT credential doesn't replace that underlying license.

Can the NMTCB CT exam qualify me for a Massachusetts CT license?

Massachusetts accepts either the ARRT or NMTCB CT examination for its advanced CT license. Under 105 CMR 125.006, you must also hold the required state license and document the relevant training. Passing an accepted exam satisfies one part of the application, not every requirement.

Can virtual CT contrast supervision pass through another off-site clinician?

ACR's guidance permits only one level of virtual supervision. The off-site physician must communicate directly, in both directions, with the qualified on-site person responsible for the patient. An off-site intermediary doesn't replace that direct connection or the additional on-site support, subject to law and facility policy.

Where must I keep CE records during a Massachusetts assignment?

Keep them at each workplace. 105 CMR 125.009 requires CE records for both the current and previous renewal cycle at every place of employment. The records must be available for inspection, so a personal archive away from the worksite doesn't meet that location requirement.
