How much experience do travel MRI tech jobs require?
Most MRI travel jobs require two years of recent MRI work. Some accept one year. Each job page lists the experience needed for the role.
Can I earn ARRT MRI certification without a radiography credential?
Yes. ARRT offers a primary MRI pathway as well as a postprimary pathway. The primary route does not require an existing radiography credential, but you must meet its education, ethics, and exam requirements. MRI certification eligibility is separate from a travel job's recent-experience requirement.
Do MRI techs need a state license?
Sometimes. BLS reports that few states specifically license MRI techs. The state where you'll work sets that rule. Where a license is required, national certification does not take its place.
Do ARRT radiography and MRI credentials require separate sets of CE credits?
No. A technologist holding ARRT radiography and MRI credentials generally completes one set of 24 approved CE credits per two-year biennium under ARRT's CE rules. Continuing Qualifications Requirements are separate and may apply to each credential based on when it was earned.
