FAQs on Travel Physical Therapy Jobs in Florida
What paperwork does Florida require from PTs who perform dry needling?
File the board's signed dry-needling attestation. Florida Statute 486.117 requires two years of licensed practice, 50 hours of face-to-face continuing education in dry needling and 25 qualifying dry-needling sessions. The sessions can follow the specified supervised pathway or be performed as a licensed PT in any state or the U.S. Armed Forces. The form confirms you meet the statute and board rule. Retain evidence for the board or Department of Health if requested.
How long does Florida take to issue a PT license through MOBILE endorsement?
Florida lists a seven-day issuance window for qualified MOBILE applicants once all licensing requirements are met. The board's MOBILE guidance also allows up to 10 business days for initial review. Missing documents or incomplete background screening can delay reaching that issuance window.
Do I need to be onsite when a PTA treats Florida hospital inpatients?
Yes, a Florida PT must be readily and physically available for consultation when a PTA treats a hospital inpatient. Rule 64B17-6.001(4)(b) and (5)(b), in the board's laws and rules guide, apply the same requirement during an acute phase of injury or illness. For other patients the supervising PT has to be reachable by telecommunication at all times and within the same geographic location as the assistant.
How long can a Florida PT treat a new patient without a referral?
Thirty days, for a condition no practitioner of record has previously assessed. Beyond that, a practitioner of record has to review and sign the plan. Florida Statute 486.021 waives that review when an out-of-state physician has physically examined the patient and diagnosed the condition the PT is treating. Direct access also doesn't cover patients currently being treated in a facility licensed under Chapter 395, which includes hospitals.
